The **Benchmade Leuku 202** is a robust Leuku-style bushcraft knife. The Leuko is traditionally from Scandinavia where it is an all-round outdoor knife. It is used for bushcraft tasks, but also for hunting or for odd jobs around the house. This Benchmade Leuku is a very modern interpretation of this classic.

 This Benchmade Leuku is a slightly larger version of the famous Benchmade Puukko.

 Benchmade has gone to great lengths to turn this Leuku into a very robust knife. The wooden handle was replaced by the Santoprene. This is a rubber-like plastic that can take a few blows. Moreover, it is very comfortable in hand. It offers you enough grip even in wet circumstances. The subtle texture of the handle contributes to this.

 The blade is made from CPM 3V. And with good reason. That is one of the toughest and most robust type of steels at the moment. This steel can easily handle heavy-duty use. In addition, it retains its sharpness well and is relatively easy to sharpen. It is also important to know that CPM 3V is not 100% stainless. Salt, acids and moisture can leave you with some discolourations or even corrosion. But with normal use and maintenance this should not be a problem.

 Where traditional Leuku's often have a full scandi edge, Benchmade has provided its Leuku with a grind that looks like it. You will find a secondary edge at the end.

 You can safely carry the Benchmade 202 Leuku in the included leather sheath. This is equipped with a fairly wide belt loop, with a second belt loop that also serves as a "dangler" This makes it easier for you to squat or sit down when you carry the knife on your belt. The sheath is enhanced with a loop to make sure you can add a firesteel.

Wie sich der relativ „gefühlt“ weiche Griff im Einsatz verhält, wird die Zeit zeigen.

Am Übergang von Griff zur Klinge ist das Santoprene Material nicht ganz fest anliegend, so dass dort Feuchtigkeit evtl eindringen kann. Der Thermorun von Fällkniven sitzt dort vollflächig verklebt an der Klinge.

Nichts desto trotz ein formschönes Messer, das super in der Hand liegt. Scheide ist in Ordnung.
