The **Böker Plus Gnome** is a compact fixed knife that you keep easily at your fingertips. Despite its small size, it is easy to handle due to the thoughtful design by knife maker Jesper Voxnaes. 

The blade is made from D2 steel. This is a strong tool steel that stays sharp for a long time and is also easy to sharpen. It's a type of steel that is made to be used. You do need to be careful when it comes to moisture, because D2 is not completely stainless. 

The handle is made from micarta. This is a composite material made from linen and synthetic resin. The handle has great grip, even in wet circumstances. The copper rivets are a nice touch.

On aurait dû l’appeler baby gnome. Il est vraiment minuscule. Bien que les dimensions étaient clairement précisées, j’ai été surpris de sa très petite taille : à utiliser avec deux doigts. Cela dit, il est tranchant et me sert essentiellement à ouvrir les colis et les cartons. Sa taille devient un atout quand on veut l’emporter. Il tient sans une poche sans se faire remarquer. Comme toujours avec la marque, le qualité de fabrication et la finition sont excellentes. 

Uitstekend klein mesje. Perfect voor al je kleine snij-klusjes. Pakketjes openen, je appeltje schillen en die irritante plastic clamshell verpakkingen lust ie ook rauw. Maar ondanks zijn kleine formaat is hij door de uitstekende grip ook prima geschikt voor wat zwaarder werk. 
De bijgeleverde Kydex schede is ook dik in orde, het mes blijft stevig zitten maar er in en er uit gaat makkelijk genoeg. Het enige dat aan de schede ontbreekt is een clip voor aan je zak/riem, maar dat is natuurlijk niet zo vreemd voor een nekmes. 

Die Gnome zie ik al een jaar of 5 langskomen. In allerlei uitvoeringen met allerlei grepen. Wel steeds het zelfde staal. Niks mis mee, misschien wel 1 van mijn favoriete staalsoorten qua eigenschappen.

Deze uitvoering trok me over de streep. Gewoon een mooi dingetje. Misschien qua maatvoering wat beperkt maar we hebben het over een nekmes. Die horen niet al te groot te zijn.

En ik heb sowieso iets met kleine mesjes.

Dit is wellicht een geval van remmende voorsprong. Alles is zo goed dat ik vrees dat het de vitrine niet uit zal komen.
