The **Fällkniven F1xb Elmax** is a top-quality outdoor knife, perfect for many different users. Bushcrafters, survivalers, hunters and other outdoor enthusiasts have known for years that Fällkniven produces excellent knives. This F1x is a full-tang version of their renowned Fällkniven F1. 

The Fällkniven F1x is also called the 'Pilot Knife', because its predecessor was specifically designed as a survival knife for fighter jet pilots. However, this doesn't mean it won't come in handy when hunting or during bushcraft, survival or camping trips. Compared to other models in this collection, its blade length is quite modest, but it's still enough to carry out the vast majority of common tasks. 

The Fällkniven X series is the first collection from this Swedish brand with a *full-tang* construction. This means that the tang of the blade runs throughout the entire handle. It is stronger than other construction methods. The scales are mounted to both sides of the tang. These are still made from Thermorun, which is a supple plastic that absorbs blows and offers plenty of grip. These scales actually provide even more grip than the handle of the normal F1. 

The blade is made from Swedish Elmax steel. This steel is tough, easy to sharpen, and has excellent sharpness retention. This, combined with the corrosion resistance, makes Elmax an outstanding steel. As we've come to expect from Fällkniven, this knife is delivered extremely sharp. 

## Fällkniven’s convex grind

Like all fixed knives produced by Fällkniven, this knife has a convex grind. This has important advantages. For instance, a convex edge can be sharpened razor-sharp, is relatively strong, and offers less cutting resistance. This is because it lacks the 'shoulders' that you usually find on a regular v-edge in the transition from the edge to the side of the blade. ## The black xb version

This B version is black. And not just because of some mediocre coating: Fällkniven has applied a special tungsten carbide coating. With a hardness of 83 HRC, it's even harder than the blade! A couple of Fällkniven's tests with hard blocks of wood demonstrated that this coating is extremely hard-wearing. It also looks really cool! You can't see it clearly in photos, but the coating has a remarkable greyish glow. Stunning. 

The Fällkniven F1xb Elmax comes with a Zytel sheath. Fällkniven also upgraded this one by adding an extra retention lever. You can use this to secure the knife firmly in the sheath. This prevents it from rattling, and also means you won't lose it. A nice upgrade!

Le Fällkniven F1xb est un excellent couteau, surtout pour ceux qui recherchent une grande solidité et un acier haut de gamme. C'est un couteau très bien fabriqué. Cependant, son poids, son manche et son prix peuvent être des points à considérer avant l’achat. Mais en tout cas,  je ne suis pas déçu de mon achat.

Super couteau, super acier vraiment bonne tenue du tranchant. Juste un peu difficile à aiguiser au début en raison de la dureté du revêtement (carbure de tungstène). 
Petit bémol de ce couteau, les poignées en thermorun sont très fine et cela donne une drole d'impression en main. Elles sont très aggripantes donc on ne perd pas le couteau mais niveau confort je peux que Fallkniven aurait pu faire mieux en rajoutant un peu de matière. A part ça le couteau est top et en plus l'émouture convexe est super efficace. Pour ceux qui s'inquièteraient de la tenacite de l'elmax sur un couteau de ce genre, il n'y a aucun problème de ce coté là justement grâce à cette émouture et cette épaisseur de lame.
Livraison et emballage nickel comme d'habitude avec knivesandtools.

Très bon couteau, je suis impressionné par ces capacités, compact et robuste,il est également très beau je trouve... Un petit coup de cuir et c'est parti et merci a Knives and Tools pour votre efficacité et rapidité.... Impeccable 👍
