There are US reviews of Higonokami which show a much cheaper knife out performing anything this blade would be capable of. I doubt very much that it comes from Japan and more likely from a shed in China. I have a twenty year old kitchen devil that’s sharper and which cost 3 quid. I bought another on a deal which was supposed to have carbon fibre handle- the handle is probably better steel than the blade. These remind me of the Blackpool Ghurka knives that In the seventies used to adorn the walls of council homes next to the flying geese however in both cases the flying geese were and are more authentic. Unless it’s just a gimmicky souvenir you want from Germany then don’t buy Higonokami from here as they’re not worth the tin they are made from

Quite expensive for a small knife but the quality and craftsmanship deserve it. Looks quite simple at first but the blade is good and small details make it. The action is smooth and although it doesn't lock is good for small everyday tasks. It should age well and would make a great heirloom/hand-down piece. Good for: Simple style Elegant looks Durable Legal carry/EDC
