The **Mercury Luc** is a cool pocket knife, inspired by the classic hunting pocket knives from the 1960s. This one, however, is made from modern materials.




The Mercury Luc 9LUCEXSWALBK-C, Elmax, Natural Canvas Micarta, pocket knife is a nice EDC pocket knife in the colour light-brown, black. With its blade length of 8,2 cm, this knife is ideal for easy carrying. When closed, it's only 10,6 cm long, and it weighs 75 g.



You open the Mercury with two hands. To make this easier, there's a nail nick which gives you a little extra grip using your fingernail. This pocket knife is not equipped with a full lock, only with a slipjoint mechanism. This provides some resistance to prevent the knife from snapping shut during normal use. However, if you press on the spine of the blade, the knife will shut.



## Blade made of Elmax steel
The blade of the Mercury Luc 9LUCEXSWALBK-C, Elmax, Natural Canvas Micarta, pocket knife is made of Elmax. It's tough, easy to sharpen and has a very good sharpness retention. These features, in combination with the corrosion resistance, makes Elmax a great steel. Elmax is made by Uddeholm in Sweden.



The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.



## About Mercury
Knife manufacturer Mercury was founded after World War II by Attilio Del Ben, in Maniago, Italy. Once upon a time, the company began by making stiletto knives and sleek pocket knives. Mercury is known for its innovative ‘MICO’ mushroom knife and was the first in Italy to produce titanium blades. A perfectly crafted little slipjoint, traditional shape in modern looks. Is light, good size for EDC and more official occasions, the blade is thin enough for great slicing action. Walk-n-talk enjoyable. For the price of ca 100€ and the materials, build quality - it is a no-brainer!

Italian craftmanship in every detail. The blade has a 90 degree stop, which adds safety when handled like a locking knife. (I tried a few times)
The Elmax is razor sharp, had no signs of rust after a conoeing holiday in Sweden and is resharpened with ease. An absolutely lovely steel. I only wish it was not stonewash but satin or had a mirror finish.
My unit had a discoloration in the nail nick that I could not polish out. I however kept it as I like it so much for the combination of size/weigh/materials/price. 

Ein sehr schönes Messer, sehr gut verarbeitet , ein Handschmeichler , ist super scharf, liegt gut in der Hand . Es macht Spass damit zu arbeiten .

Aktuell mit Abstand mein Lieblingsmesser, auch und gerade als EDC. Top-Verarbeitung, scharf ab Werk, gute Federspannung, toller Griff. Zusammen mit der wie immer superschnellen Lieferung von k&t eine absolute Kaufempfehlung.
