The Opinel Pocket knife with wooden handle. Originally created by Joseph Opinel in 1890 for use by farmers. The Opinel Pocket knife is a famous, yet very cheap pocket knife for everyday use. You can get very small versions or fairly large ones. This No. 08 from the Trekking-series is nicely medium sized. The leather string at the back of the knife is a finishing touch to the design, but also very practical as you can hang the knife on this or tie it something. The Trekking series is available in a number of cheerful colors.  
   


This pocket knife is equipped with the simple but effective Virobloc-lock system. The blade is locked by the ring that can be pivoted around the hinge point. A classic in true sense of the word.

très bon produit correspond a la description pour un prix raisonnable

Ich hatte viel von Opinel Messern gehört und habe mir einfach eines bestellt um Mal zu sehen, was da so dran ist. Es ist schön verarbeitet aber nach dem Öffnen habe ich leider festgestellt, dass die Klinge stumpf bzw. fast nicht vorhanden war. Es war ein Flachschliff, der aber nicht ganz fertig gemacht wurde. Was ich jetzt wirklich damit schneiden sollte war mir nicht ganz klar. Ich hab dann selbst eine Klinge reingeschliffen und die behält das Messer recht gut. Für Anfänger jedoch, die so etwas nicht können ist so ein Messer nicht geeignet. Es kann natürlich auch sein, dass ich ein fehlerhaftes Produkt bekommen habe, aber bei so einem billigen Produkt tue ich nicht viel herum. Der Verschluss ist recht lustig, es ist einfach ein Metallring, den man etwas dreht und dadurch ist es dem Messer nicht mehr möglich sich A zu schliessen. Alles in Allem sehr interessant, aber die schlechte Klinge hat mir nicht gefallen. Ich glaube jedoch nicht, dass das mit dem schlechten Schliff bei anderen auch der Fall ist, denn Opinel hat an sich einen sehr guten Ruf. Nur meine persönliche Erfahrung war leider nicht zu gut.

De Opinel No. 8 is de beste koop die je kunt doen voor een zakmes. Dit mes heeft uitstraling, geschiedenis, is superlicht, heeft een comfortabel en warm handvat, unieke velige vergrendeling (zowel open als dicht te vergrendelen) en een fijne vorm van het lemmet. En dat alles zeer voordelig! Het lederen touwtje geeft het mes nog net een beetje meer karakter. Normaal gaat mijn voorkeur uit naar de variant in carbonstaal (zonder touwtje) omdat die beter te slijpen is en een mooie patina vormt, maar dit was een cadeau voor anderen. Het enige nadeel is dat in natte omstandigheden (keuken!) het handvat kan opzwellen waardoor het enige tijd moeilijk te openen en sluiten is, maar dat gaat met drogen weer over.
