The **Hogue Deka** is a slender and lightweight pocket knife. It has a very high fidget factor thanks to Hogue's Able-lock. You won't be able to stop yourself opening and closing the blade. But of course, this knife is meant to be used. As you would expect from a Hogue, the handle is fine: excellent grip, and perfectly executed.




Opening the Hogue Deka Trainer 24269, Tumble Blue Peel Ply G10, training knife with one hand is very easy thanks to the thumb stud. Once opened, the sturdy Crossbar Lock ensures that the blade is locked and won't accidentally close during use. A cool feature of this lock is that it can be easily used by both left-handed and right-handed users.

The name 'Crossbar Lock' is a generic term for locks of this type. The foundation of this mechanism was the Axis Lock as developed by Benchmade. Today, several manufacturers happily make use of the same mechanism, though sometimes under different names.



## Blade made of 154CM steel
The blade of the Hogue Deka Trainer 24269, Tumble Blue Peel Ply G10, training knife is made of 154CM steel, an American type of steel that is very corrosion resistant and retains its sharpness well. Moreover, for a stainless steel, it is quite tough. Many knife steels were actually developed for other applications, and this is the case for 154CM too. It was originally designed for use in jet engines. It was knife maker Bob Loveless who made 154CM popular for use as a knife steel in the 1970s.



The ‘stonewash’ process was chosen for the finish of this blade. The stonewash process involves the blade being placed inside a drum with ceramic stones, or media, and then vibrated or tumbled for several hours. The result is a finish that looks precisely polished or roughened depending on the version. The advantage of stonewashing, however, is that signs of use are much less noticeable. That makes it a popular choice for knives that see a lot of use.



## G10 handle

The Hogue Deka Trainer 24269, Tumble Blue Peel Ply G10, training knife features a handle made from G10 and measures 10,7 cm in length. G10 is a composite material made of glass fibre and synthetic resin. With its subtle texture, G10 feels great in hand and offers plenty of grip. Moreover, it is incredibly strong, so it can take a beating.
