KA-BAR Becker BK72 Black DLC CPM S35VN Knivesandtools Exclusive, survival knife
KA-BAR Becker BK72 Black DLC CPM S35VN Knivesandtools Exclusive, survival knife
Full description
The KA-BAR Becker BK72 Knivesandtools Exclusive is one of the heaviest duty knives in our range. With a huge blade with a thickness of no less than 6.35 mm, this knife can really take a beating. In spite of its size, the knife feels great in hand thanks to the rounded handles. And this Knivesandtools Exclusive version, based on the Becker BK2, is even more comfortable to use!

Upon initial impression of the BK72 from the packaging to the knife is great in most regard. The product packaging is similar if not the same as the BK2. When it comes to the knife, it is essentially the same construction and form as the BK2 with some notable exceptions. The first exception is that the steel used in the knife is CPM S35VN stainless steel instead of the 1095 Cro-Van carbon steel, in which case contributes to its corrosion resistance in wet condition and lower maintenance without an oil coating. Furthermore, the knife also has a DLC (Diamond-Like Carbon) coating which helps with even more corrosion resistance as well as having a much higher wear resistance than the BK2 traction coating. Interestingly enough, the hardware on the knife such as bolts and nuts are also DLC coated unlike the BK2. The second exception to the knife is that for CPM S35VN, the edge retention is able to maintain its sharpness for much longer than 1095 Cro-Van while also offering similar toughness as well. Lastly, the BK72 handle scales are premium quality Micarta instead of Zytel plastic handles on the BK2. When it comes to the kydex sheath that the BK72 arrives in, it is important to note that the sheath does not come with any belt loop attachments which is different than what the BK2 or BK22 comes with that has belt attachments. When it comes to survival and outdoor use, the BK72 is no different than the BK2 in which it performs extremely well in simple bushcrafting task. There are already numerous reviews that have accounted for this over the past decade and is to be expected from this knife. Overall, I would say that this knife is one of the excellent products that KA-BAR has put out in the last decade and the exclusive collaboration on this knife from Knives and Tools with KA-BAR is a great addition to my collection and would highly recommend this knife.
