To extend the life of the stones they are made from top-quality aluminium oxide. This quickly removes material and only slowly wears out. Because of this abrasive and a special cohesive agent these sharpening stones have another massive advantage.The sharpening stones work with the Splash & Go principle.Add a splash of water and you can get started.You no longer have to submerge the stones in water before use.It is, however, important to make sure the sharpening stone stays wet during use.  
The name might suggest you are sharpening on glass. That is not the case. The base of the sharpening stones is enhanced with a glass sheet. This sheet ensures that the sharpening stone won't bend and will last even longer. The glass also ensures you can use the stone to its full extent. Even as the stone has gotten thinner after years of use, 

##Grain size

The Skerper Glass Stones collection is comprised of four stones with a grain size ranging from coarse to ultra-fine. The 400 grit sharpening stone is perfect when sharpening a damaged of blunt knife. You use the 1000 grit sharpening stone to make sure blunt knives become sharp again. The 3000 grit sharpening stone turns sharp knives into razor-sharp knives. Finally, there is a 6000 grit sharpening stone for those who feel razor-sharp is still not sharp enough.
