The Chris Reeve Sebenza 31: small and large
There are two versions of the Sebenza 31: the small Sebenza and the large Sebenza. Both were made from top-quality materials such as titanium and S35VN steel. There is much variation within the Sebenza collection. In addition to the differently shaped blades: the standard drop-point, the Insingo and the tanto, there are also many different types of handles to choose from. A couple examples are the Sebenzas with micarta inlays, or the CGG models with milled patterns and differently coloured anodized finishes.
The Chris Reeve Sebenza 31: seeing is deceiving
At first glance the Sebenza 31 might look fairly simple. Nothing could be further from the truth. The Chris Reeve Sebenza 31 is enhanced with a number of innovative details you might not notice at first. The pivot bushing system, for instance. This tube is located in between both scales and around the pivot. Because the tube is as thick and the blade and washers combined, the blade will always be centred and move smoothly. More information about this system can be found on the Chris Reeve designer page.
In short, with so many variations there is something for everyone! The excellent quality has turned the Sebenza 31 into one of the best knives in the world. It is therefore not surprising at all that the Sebenza 31 is so famous. Chris Reeve Knives are made for life.
Chris Reeve Sebenza collection
Chris Reeve produced the first handmade Sebenza in 1987. Throughout the years the design changed quite often. After the handmade Sebenzas in 1987 there was the original Sebenza in 1990, the Regular in 1996 and the Classic in 2000. In 2008 the Sebenza celebrated its 21st birthday. To celebrate Chris Reeve introduced another new version of the Sebenza. It was called the Sebenza 21! After the 21 the Sebenza 25 was introduced, but the 21 was the standard for years. Until 2019, when Chris Reeve introduced the new Sebenza. An upgraded version of the Sebenza 21 with a couple innovative modifications amongst which a new type of framelock and an updated inlay.
